How an Austin trucking company aims to reduce emissions through hybrid, electric tech
While leading Ball Corporation's upstream aluminum business, Gus Gardner got to thinking about the power of doing well by doing good.
Part of his job as a global upstream corporate development and strategy manager was to oversee the increase of recycled content in products like soda cans.
"When you get the economics side of sustainability, you end up with these really durable, long lasting improvements," Gardner told the American-Statesman. "We saw it with natural gas. Removing coal from the energy was not because it's better for the world, but because it's cheaper and easier. Same thing with recycling. It's cheaper to use metal that is thrown away than it is to go dig it out of the ground."
